Easter 2013

We had a nice Easter this year, our first with Claire!

The Easter bunny came to see the babies and Wyatt was most interested in his Peeps.

We got ready for church and my babies looks soooo precious! I about died over Claire's cuteness in her bonnet! And Wyatt...my little boy is looking less and less like a toddler and so much more like a boy.

Church was good! We actually got there on time and Wyatt went to children's church for the first time! I am so excited that he's (almost) 2 now and can go. I may get to pay attention during the sermon now! Ryan stayed with him for his first time, but he said we should be able to drop him off and him not be missing us. I hope! They made this and I'll probably keep it forever!
After church we went to eat at SKK a new restuarant in town. I won't be returning. Ryan likely will. Ew.

After naps we hunted Easter eggs!

Wyatt wasn't really interested in putting the eggs in his basket. He was much more interested in picking them up by way of his truck.

He is so goofy.

It was a great day with beautiful weather!

No more paci on our lives

Okay, so no more paci in his life. We've still go little Miss taking one, but I can say that Wyatt is officially done with the paci just 2.5 weeks before his 2nd birthday!

It has been 8 days and I think it's getting easier to get him to bed. We knew that would be the biggest challenge, but I got him to sleep in 10 minutes last night. I'm so proud of him and feel like he is growing up so fast. I also feel like our next hurdle is potty-training and that my friends is straight up intimidating!!

Weekend recap

It's Monday and the day is going good. I've got two sleeping babies...nothing gets me more excited than nap time! Ha!

We had such a good weekend. I always get sad when good weekends come to an end.

Friday night we went to baby weigh in and Claire weighed 9lbs 14.5oz.

Saturday started out like any normal morning. Oh wait. Just kidding. My dear Haley decided to text me at 7:30 in the morning. About the 40.
And if you are wondering what I have to see put to use it's the cage and poles.
The next text is something along the lines of are we going followed by a heck yes from Haley. Oh dear.

Later that afternoon us girls got together and watched Marcie tie the knot. It was a sweet wedding and the preacher really made me think about my marriage and my babies. I did shed some tears...picturing your own babies one day having their big day is beyond emotional.

It was fun getting to chat with my girls for 2 hours. I'm 99% positive we ran a couple off from the table we were sharing with them too. Ha!

Saturday night we went to Mimi and Pawpaw's for dinner.

We took Wyatt to feed one of the baby cows that dad is bottle feeding.

I feel like Wyatt got a little taste of country life. Thank goodness!

I burnt my neck with a curling iron like I was in the 6th grade and just learning how to curl my hair. Today, I look like I have two hickeys on my neck.Curling iron burn on the left, birth mark on the right. Shameful.

Wyatt went to kiss Sissy and ended up biting down and dragging his teeth across her forhead.

And that's where he scratched her between her eyes. Poor thing.

Sunday, Claire went to church for the first time!

They're just so sweet and Claire is already getting sooo big!

Ryan and I took the babies to Mimi's and we went to watch The Great and Powerful Oz. It was soo good!!

The day ended with me going to the gym and the grocery store...I forgot how much of a love/hate relationship I have with the gym.

Looking forward to Friday already!

10 months old

Someone isn't happy that he is getting older.
And you thought it was me, didn't you?

Okay, to be fair Wyatt doesn't mind getting older. In fact, I think he loves getting older and feeling like such a big boy. What he doesn't like is the fact that mommy made him sit down in his crib so I could get a picture.

He cheered up a bit though...
It is so hard to believe you 10 months old!!

The highlights for the month:

-You take2  bottles a day- morning and night. You take two straw cups with milk during the day and about 3 cups of water as well. You LOVE water so much. I like thinking you get that from mommy.

-You are eating more table food, but still some of the baby food. I cook you veggies just about every night. Fresh fruits aren't so fresh since they are out of season, but I still feed you the good ones. I will be so happy when summer is here and we can fill your tummy with lots of fresh fruit. You have it in your head that once you sit in your high chair you are supposed to eat. This is always fun when we take you to a restaurant. Nonetheless you are a very good baby out at lunches and dinners.

-You are still sleeping 11-12 hours a night and taking 2 naps a day.

-You are wearing 12 month and 18 month clothes and a size 5W shoe still as well as 18-36 month socks. You are still in a size 4 in your diaper.

-You are finally talking...Ba, Da, Ga, and every now and then I think I hear a Ma.

-You love to push your "grocery" cart (push-walker), laundry baskets, tables, anything that will move really.

-You are cruising along the furniture, tables, and between chairs and tables.

-You stand unassisted and sit down very slowly.

-Bath time is your absolute favorite time of the day I would have to say.

-You give high fives, give sugar (my favorite), and wave bye-bye but only when you really feel like it.

-You have two bottom teeth and the top ones are trying to come in too.

-You still only take a paci at bedtime. Also during sleep time you have found a new love in Scout that Misty bought you. He plays you bedtime music and you just cuddle up to him.
-You got your first real boo-boo this month.
Your Doug & Melissa puzzle fell on your toe, bruising it all up. The bottom of your toe looked like we pressed it in ink to get your print. It was very sad, but you didn't seem like it bothered you too much after the fact. Oh, you also got your feet stuck which is why I even took the 2 above pictures.

-Your favorite toy would have to be your green frog humidifier. You love putting it back together once you take it apart. This will easily keep you entertained for 20 minutes at a time.

-You still could care less about the tv.

-You are starting to "jump" when we tell you. You slam your head back in your high chair when we tell you "ouch" and you continue to be extremely ticklish on your back.

-You LOVE the bathroom, the toilet, the tub. You could stay in the bathroom all day if we let you. It kind of sort of grosses me out too, but it is what it is.

That's all I can really think of right now. I had a whole list on my phone, but daddy broke it over the weekend. (He still denies it.) Hopefully I didn't leave anything big out!

Saturday Laughs

Discovery is a big deal when it comes to children. Wyatt seems to discover new things each and everyday. Some days it's how to roll over, some days it's how to start using those vocal cords, other days (like earlier this week) he discovers what his "business" is.

Don't get me wrong, I knew it was coming. I mean as the mother of a boy, "boy" things were in my future. The day when toots become farts, when a burp become a belch, and when his pee pee was of major fascination.

Early in the week, Wyatt discovered what we have appropriately dubbed his "business." This business he immediately checks out as soon as that diaper comes off and the business that he refuses to leave alone during bath time.

I was laughing hysterically at him during the first bath with his new found glory and had Ryan come in and see just how he had corrupted our child. When Ryan peeked over and asked Wyatt what he was doing, Wyatt looked up with the cheesiest, closed mouth grin we had ever witnessed. It was like what he knew.

I know there are many funny adventures ahead of us. I guess I have my work cut out for me. There is going to be a day when Ryan and Wyatt are sitting in the respective chairs in the living room, just chillin' with a hand comfortably placed in their pants. That is my future, people...jealous?

Today, I am linking with Melissa at the mommyhood chronicles.

Favorite Stage

Ever since Wyatt was born and as each month has passed us by I have always declared, "This is my favorite stage."

That's what just about all mothers do thought, right?

Well, keeping true to the pattern that I have formed, I must declare that month 9 has been so much fun...in fact, probably my favorite.

See what just happened?

But for real, Wyatt is becoming such a blast with his personality developing more and more each day.

Last night we took him to eat and he was such a good little boy. Waitresses were commenting on what a cute little fella he is (and that he clearly does not miss any meals). I'm sure we were just beaming with pride.

He is daddy's buddy for sure.

And looks so adorable in flannel.

Wyatt seriously cracks me up on a daily basis.

Yesterday it was playing peek-a-boo behind his bedroom door. He was in his room and I was out in the hallway and he would shut the door in my face and then open it up and I'd be there to smile at him. We did this forever. A few times I would stand up and move away from the door and when he'd open it expecting me to be there and I wasn't his little face was so confused. Once he did find me he was so dang excited he would turn around and take off further into his room. This was only after he would faceplant because his body was moving faster than his legs could keep up with.

A few nights back, we put him to bed and I went to check on him a minutes later to pull out his paci. I found him like this:
He had kicked off his britches and balled up his blanket underneath him. I got so tickled at him and had Ryan come and look at him. I put his pants back on him because I didn't want him to get cold. Ha...momma has to mess with everything.

Sometime last week I had given Wyatt his first bottle for the day and set him down to play. I looked over and he was sitting there watching tv so I continued to watch him (only after I took a picture) and then apparently Mickey had done something funny and Wyatt let out a little chuckle. I laughed so hard at him and as soon as he did he was done with the tv. This lasted all of 2 minutes maybe. He's never going to be a tv watching kid I don't think.
Those are just a few snippets of life with our lovely 9 month old. It is too much fun!

40 weeks, 3 days

Wyatt had baked for 40 weeks, 3 days. My Facebook album for my pregnancy with him was appropriately titled“Even mixtures of mommy and daddy, and bake for 9 months.”

I was very thrilled that I carried him full-term and then (though not at the time) for an additional 24 days. I can remember being utterly scared for what was going to happen after he was here, but at the same time excruciatingly anxious to finally meet the little boy that I had hoped for and prayed for even before he was conceived.
I was so lucky to have such an easy pregnancy. It actually FLEW by and before I knew it Ryan and I were loading up the car early one morning never to return as just a couple.

Now, here we are 40 weeks, 3 days after that sweet little boy took his first look at the world on the outside.

I cannot believe that Wyatt has now been here IN my arms for as long as he was IN my belly. That’s absolutely shocking to me because it means that his 1st birthday is just around the corner. Do you read that right? His first birthday is AROUND THE CORNER.

I’ve learned so much and have truly grown up since having a child.

What I have learned…

He loves bubbles.
…Patience. But Sarah, patience is a virtue…Mer, mer, mer. Of course it is. Once Wyatt was born I quickly realized that all his needs came before mine. Obviously, right? I knew that they would and that I wouldn’t have a problem with it. The type of patience I am referring to is the one where you have a baby who is fighting with everything that he has in him to NOT go to sleep for fear of missing the party that his parents are having once he does finally go to sleep. (Little does he know said party consists of showers, reading, laundry, and watching TV.) Wyatt is over 23 lbs. He is a big, strong boy that seriously makes me WORK. I am more successful at rocking him to sleep than his daddy, and I’m not 100% sure why that is but I think that Daddy is secretly pinching his booty so that I will have to rock him. May or may not be true…who knows. Nonetheless, we eventually get that baby to sleep though it’s not without a fight. I have to remind myself on occasion to have patience with Wyatt, to take a few extra deep breathes, to understand that he can’t fully vocalize what he needs or what he wants. I will admit that one thing I pray for every night is more patience than I had the day before. I will admit that sometimes I do lose my patience (not in a crazy lunatic mother who doesn’t deserve to care for her children type of way). But, sometimes I have to step away from a crying baby for 10 seconds to regain composure and then return to him ready to figure it out. I never want to approach Wyatt in a manner where you can sense agitation or annoyance. This works for me and I have zero shame in admitting that. Babies are peculiar little creatures. They can make you laugh until you cry and cry until you laugh.

…Love. I love my husband and likewise he loves me. I don’t dare question that love that he has for me, but I can tell you that love that you have as a parent it a million times different than any love that you have for a spouse. Love for a spouse is no way inferior to that of your child, it’s just totally different and you won’t realize or probably believe it until you actually are a parent. My heart serious hurts when Wyatt does certain things. When he is looking at me, being very serious, and then all of sudden raises his eyebrows and then smiles my heart wants to burst. Burst. When he figures something out, like walking with his push walker and he is so proud of himself and he smiles the entire time I can’t help but love him so much more. I will admit that sometimes I want to squeeze the crap out of him because he is just so special and precious to me and I just can’t get enough of him.

-Responsibility. I pride myself on being very responsible growing up. I was in my teen years, into my late teen years, and into my early 20’s. But now, at 26, I have an entirely different responsibility sitting on my shoulders. I have to properly care for a child, raise him to be a loving man, and see that each day he knows that he is more loved than he can even fathom. That is a huge responsibility. One that you know you will have once you have a baby, but how extreme and important it is is kind of unimaginable. I love this responsibility. It’s a challenge. I like challenges.

Those are probably the biggest…I mean, there are small things like learning how to change mega stinkies with no more than 3 wipes, how to get a gassy baby’s legs working, how to multitask like a pro, and how to keep at least one fingernail a little longer in order to pick boogers.

Pancakes with mommy!
Every day is so precious with Wyatt. He is becoming less and less of a baby and more and more of a little boy by each second that is ticking away. I know that he will always be MY baby, but I know that the past 40 weeks and 3 days flew by before I even knew it was happening. I remember once having a not-so-tiny newborn in my arms at every second, to having a baby rolling over, to having him sit up unassisted, to then crawling, and now cruising around on furniture and trying to walk on his own. It saddens me to see how fast he has grown up, but I am so proud of him for meeting all the milestones that he should be. If the next 40+ weeks go by anything like these then I’ve seriously got to get my A game on and enjoy every moment a hundred times more than I already am.

What baby?

There once was a time when I had a squishy, huggable, baby.

Where did he go?

Now, I have a big boy who is brave enough to stand up and let go just to scare us half to death. This is the "baby" that also got his second tooth yesterday... Two weeks after his first one and we had a "fussy" day if you even want to call it that. He was just a tad bit grumpy and we could tell that his gums were bothering him but it was very short lived and now we've got a mouth full of teeth!
Okay, so it's only 2 but it seems like so many! I love how cute his little smile is. Wyatt is pulling up on everything and standing the majority of the day. Seriously, that's all he wants to do is crawl to something and pull up on it. He has successfully learned how to sit back down (thank goodness) so now we don't have him getting mad and "screaming" at us.

While he isn't so much a "baby" anymore, the days just seem to get more and more fun. How is it possible that my little man is nearly 9 months old? At this rate he is going to be 18 and heading off to college just to forget about poor ole mom. Sigh...this is life I guess. I've just got to cherish my sweet little boy while I can because in a blink he truly won't be a baby. Tear.

A visit with Santa

Saturday we took Wyatt to see the big guy in red that would be delivering presents to him in a week! A week...how is that possible again?

He did so good and Santa stated the obvious by calling him a dandy.
This one is my favorite by far!

We met Erin and Ridge there too so here is the best picture I got of him. Ridge told me he was a good boy so I'm betting he will get everything he asked for!
I'm glad that Wyatt did good. Next year will be an entirely different story I'm sure!

Do you see what I see?

Of course you don't.
 Because I barely do.
But what I want everyone to know is that Wyatt has his first little tooth coming in!

I can actually feel it and see it and it is going to be so stinkin' cute once it finally pushes all the way through.

So cute!
Yah, the pictures suck. You trying prying open the mouth of an 8 month old. He's a busy bee. He's got so much more important things to do.

Branson Trip

Saturday we got around and headed north to Branson. It was Wyatt’s first trip there and we could not be more excited about taking him. He was such a good baby riding up there, sleeping until we got into Branson. We then checked in and headed to eat at an Italian restaurant we found last year. It was good, but with a baby that wanted some entertainment we basically inhaled it. After that we headed toward the outlet malls to see what we could find. As soon as we got down there it started to sprinkle on us and that rain didn’t let up until the next day. However, we did what we came to do and we shopped, shopped, and shopped. We got stuff mostly for Wyatt, of course, but momma managed to get a few things as well.

We met up with my brother and Misty at the Landing for dinner and shopped some more. Since we had Wyatt with us we didn’t want him out in the rain so we decided to head to the hotel. We were all in bed by 10. Wyatt did so good sleeping in his first hotel too! Went to sleep about 9 and woke up at 8:30. Woo! I only let him play in his pack-n-play because the mere thought of his toe even touching the floor in the hotel completely grossed me out. The poor guy hated his life this weekend I’m sure…being stuck in a carseat and stroller for an obscene about of time had to be horrendous, but at least he was a trooper. He got lots of compliments on how big a boy and cute he was. Um, duh! People are always so surprised that he is only an (almost) 8 month old. Big babies are the best! We got Wyatt a new Santa for his tree, too. We had so much fun. I think Wyatt was pretty happy to be back home. We put him on the floor so he could finally crawl around and it was the best thing ever by the look on his face.

For our memory…
“I just saw a chicken cross the road, like for real.”

Parade

Let’s play some catch up…
Last Thursday we took Wyatt to his first parade!
He was such a good little boy, just taking it all in. It didn’t hurt that his Mimi and Pawpaw showed up too!
We also met Erin, Ridge, and Derek there too along with a big crew from Ryan’s work.
It was so much fun watching Wyatt look at the floats.
We only had one little scare which happened when the fire truck honked directly in our ears. He got a little scared and it was that pitiful little wail. Once he realized he wasn’t in any sort of danger he was good again.
Afterwards, Mimi and Pawpaw treated us to some Dixie Café and Wyatt was such a ham. He was cracking us all up so much. It was hilarious. We are all so thankful he is such an easy little baby!

We've Got a Crawler

I guess it’s fair to finally admit something that I’ve been thinking for a while now. My kid scares the crap out of me. I should also admit that this only happened recently…like a few weeks ago when he started trying to crawl…and now…now that we are crawling all over the house he finds ways to scare me.  Side note: He is crawling but not up completely on hands and knees with his belly off the floor- he’s a big boy…you try getting those little chubby, muscle-less arms and legs to carry that big body. We’ve just got a priceless floor cleaner. Anyway, this past weekend Wyatt was happily playing in his room when I decided to let him be and go wash dishes. Not 5 minutes, seriously if that, I turn to go back to his room and when I make it to the hall I scream and my heart drops to the floor. You would think I would say something horrific had happened to my sweet baby, but instead there he was in all his glory smiling up at me, proud of his accomplishment of crawling out of his room and down the hall to find his mommy. It was the weirdest thing seeing him there knowing I had left him somewhere else. I know he’s crawling and never where we leave him anymore, but to pop up in the hallway where it’s dark and I completely didn’t expect it made my heart hurt.

Another thing that seriously scares me is this pulling up business. I no longer have a baby people. I have a little human that resembles his father and shows absolutely no fear. This is not cool. I don’t think I can handle it…can someone please slow down time a little?

For my record, memory, baby book that is this blog: Wyatt is a crawler at 7.5 months.
