Weekend Recap

Friday morning Wyatt and I got around to go make our weekly trip to the grocery store, when Ryan called and said that he was coming home to drop something off before he was headed to see a couple of customers out of town. Since we were already dressed and ready to go I decided to declare it “Bring Your Wife and Son to Work Day.” Luckily, Ryan didn’t had the least bit of a problem with it, so we loaded the baby up in his work truck and were off. We went to Marshall and Harrison and had just a nice visit while the baby slept. Ryan got to show off our handsome boy to his customers so of course he thoroughly enjoyed that. We got back home around 2:15 and then we went to the store. By the time we go out of there, home, and the groceries put up it was time for Daddy to be home! Yay!
We ended up feeding the baby dinner and then sat there trying to decide what we were going to do ourselves. Wyatt’s only nap for the day occurred on the road trip so he was a Grumpy Butt from about 6 o’clock on. There, clearly, was no way we were taking the baby out. I decided I wasn’t cooking obviously, and so Ryan said if I could find a baby sitter then we would go out to eat. I knew Wyatt’s Nana was in Shreveport and so I called up my mom and asked her what she was doing. Her reply? Watching TV. I then proceeded to tell her she needed to come watch TV at our house. She asked what for and I said because we would like to go eat dinner and taking the baby was out of the question. She immediately said yes and that she’d be there in a little bit. We are so, so thankful to have family so close and so willingly to watch our baby. I gave the baby a bath, lotioned him up, and in jammies by the time mom got there about 7. We held out giving him his bottle so that Mimi would have at least something to do with him since it was clear he would be falling asleep very, very soon. We left to go eat dinner, met up with some friends that Ryan worked with and just hung out at the restaurant until 10. Thank you Mimi for watching the baby! Er, I should say putting the baby to bed and just listening for him. Haha.
And I have a baby that is the size of a 3 year old. You didn't know?

Saturday was Ryan’s weekend to work so we went and joined him at work for about an hour after we got up and around. While we waited for him to get home I ended up making some sliders to test out for Wyatt’s first birthday. Sliders…can you guess what theme I am going with? Once Ryan got home we hit up happy hour and then drove around looking at house I was scoping out. Ultimately, I decided no house would suit us and we are still just going to have to build.
Sunday, we went to church in Havana, went to visit Papaw and then came home. We all ended up taking a 2 hour nap before we got around to go to Mimi’s and Pawpaw’s to eat fish, hush puppies, and fries. So yummy and even Wyatt enjoyed it! Since Nana would still be in Shreveport today, Wyatt stayed with his Mimi so she wouldn’t have to drive over in the morning just to take him back over there that afternoon so Misty could watch him. I am branching out on who gets to watch the baby, can’t you tell? Aside from the grandmas and Erin, Misty will be the only other person to watch him. I might even be brave enough to let him go to the church nursery one of the days. Ha!

This morning the house felt so empty. Wyatt is definitely apart of our morning regime. While we are getting ready he usually lets us know that he is awake and one of us gets him up, changed, and starting to eat. This morning poor Ryan was just “wondering around aimlessly” as he says. It felt like our routine was out of whack and we didn’t know what to do with ourselves. I am leaving work an hour early to go and get him. I can’t help it! Hope you all had a great weekend!

And, sadly this is my toenail...I danced so hard 2 weeks ago my peep toe done went and bruised me. Ha.
And, and...I sent off my Nikon again. This sucker better be ready to go ASAP!! I didn't drop it, the flash wouldn't work. Blah...

Feeding a 10.5 month old

It is no surprise that Ryan and I have a baby that likes to eat. Actually, like is an understatement. Homeboy loves to eat. Anything actually. He has started to snub his nose at the pureed baby food here past couple of weeks. We went on our weekly shopping trip together the only "baby" food item was his little pouches.

Being a first time mom I was a little confused at to what to be feeding my almost 11 month old child. It's tricky. You have to decided what is good for them and how much.

Tricky isn't quite the word for it either. I was slightly stressed at first, but now am I definitely in the rhythm I believe.

Here's what Wyatt's diet consists of....
For breakfast he has formula and Cheerios. He also has blueberry muffins, pancakes, biscuits, blueberry Eggos, and mixed berry nutrigrain bars sometime during the morninig. His second cup of formula he has oatmeal and fruit yogurt. We feed him an afternoon snack of Sargentos Cheddar and Mozzerrela cheesesticks with Club crackers, Whole Grain Goldfish, or something else. His third sit down meal is a fresh fruit- apple, banana, strawberry, kiwi, avacados, mandarin oranges, etc. with another cup of formula.

For dinner, regardless of what we are eating I always throw some of these frozen veggies-sweet potatoes, potatoes, green beans, corn, peas, black eyed peas, etc. on the stove and cook for him. Depending on the meat we are having, we cut it up for him, but he likes everything. For his dessert at dinner he gets more yogurt. He ends the day with another bottle.

Of course, all of the foods, if not bite size already, we cut up and he is a great little picker upper of food.

Those pouches are so great on the go, when fruit and veggies won't be readily available. Also, Wednesday I discovered Chick-Fil-A's kid meal with grilled chicken nuggets. Awesome! I get that for him and eat the french fries. Wyatt apparently doesn't like french fries either. Whhhaaat? I know, but I am very thankful for it.

I think that is the gist of what we feed him. I know that we are setting examples so I'm happy to say that a lot of the "junk" we have always bought is beginning to dwindle. The sweetest thing in our house is probably pudding cups and jello. And, we have started eating a ton more veggies so yay for us!

Any more suggestions?

45 weeks old

Let's just say things aren't very fun in the Davis house right now...
Daddy brought home a sickness, Mommy's in the early stages, and we can't tell if he's catching it too or teething. Not fun at all.

Weekend Recap

Friday evening Wyatt a sleepover with his Mimi and Pawpaw. It was Haley's first night out since having Payton and we had such a good time. Here is us girls. We had to pretty much convince one of the guys to take a picture of us. My point: I blog so I need a picture!! It worked.
Erin, Haley, me, Lindsay
I guess I can officially say that I am hanging up my dancing shoes. Hmm, actually I guess I should say I am hanging up my 40 shoes. This was the last time we will probably ever frequent the 40. Us girls haven't got to go out and have a good dancing night since I first became pregnant with Wyatt. We had so much fun and the guys didn't seem to be complainin' either.

Here's Whitney and I waiting to walk over there...about this time Haley ever-so-nicely left me a voicemail telling me basically to get my asphalt to the 40 pronto. No lie, we were like 3 minutes behind them. I think she was nervous we were bailing on them.

It was such a fun time getting to dance and watching Ryan get hit on by another woman. Homegirl (who was in her late 40s I'm sure and straight ghetto) was all about my hubs. I was laughing so hard watching from across the bar as he was getting his flirt on with her...okay so she was flirting with him. He was simply being nice and talking up his friend whom she clearly needed to be interest in. She was even trying to get him to go dance with her until he quickly reminded her again that his wife wouldn't be very happy about that. True story.

Once we got home around 3ish, I apparently was as helpless as they come and talked of nothing besides a cheeseburger that I so desperately wanted. I ended up with this:
A peanut butter and jelly sandwich that I apparently took one bite of. We when woke up Ryan asked me if I wanted the rest of my sandwich since it was sitting on the night stand. I just laughed, asked why there was a sandwich there, and he reminded me that I was so hungry that he was merely taking care of me but I straight up rejected his offering. It is what it is. I'll be honest I spent the rest of the day doing nothing while Ryan cleaned the cars. We went to get the baby and spent the rest of the day hanging out with him.

Today we went to church and afterwards went to eat. Today was the first time we ordered Wyatt his own plate. He got a pancake, but also shared my chicken, Daddy's apples, hashbrown and biscuits. It's becoming so much easier not having to worry about bringing him food.

After we got home we put the baby down for a nap and took naps ourselves. Ryan got up after his and hand washed my car (big thanks Bunney)!
Just a little chocolate pudding.

We then got a visit from Payton, Haley, and Jay before they headed home to Maumelle.
Wyatt was sooo sweet giving little Payton some sugar!
He just didn't know what to think of her!
And it was warmer today so we let the baby sport this for about an hour today. Haha
More sugar for Payton!

We're going to have to make a trip to Little Rock to get the flash on my camera fixed. UGH...at least I got some half way decent pictures.

Hope you had a great weekend!

11 Things

I read where Leslie did this post and wanted to do it myself. I, too, changed it up a bit. I did the 11 facts and answered the 11 questions.

1. I flip my pillow over once every night before I crawl into bed. Ryan hid my wedding band once and I was looking for it. When I came to bed, I was still asking him where he hid my rings. I then flipped over my pillow and spotted my rings. He then said, "I don't know why I put those there. I knew you were going to do that."

2. My favorite place to pluck my eyebrows is the car. I'm a plucker...never been waxed before.

3. I eat peanut butter 6/7 days of the week.

4. I absolutely love bathroom humor. I will laugh just about everytime. I'm the type of person, too, that will be laughing uncontrollably (as well as silently) when I hear someone toot in the ladies room.

5. The one toy that leaves the biggest impression on me still to this day was a yellow and orange dinosaur that I named Guppy. Homeboy and I werelikethis. He got lost in a move from Alabama to Arkansas...my life hasn't been the same since.

6. I sound like a 10 year old kid who talks at lightening speed on the phone. That is at least how I feel when I hear myself.

7. If I only had to do one chore for the rest of my life it would totally be laundry. It doesn't phase me in the least.

8.I'm a shower at night type of person. I despise blow drying my hair so I have to wash it at night. Ryan showers in the morning. I always think my side of the bed is much cleaner than his.

9. I'm a label whore when it comes to certain things. Namely, toilet paper (Cottonelle), peanut butter (JIF creamy), and dish washing soap (Dawn).

10. I use my blinker A LOT. Favorite part of a car, hands down. I can remember when my friend Erin got a new car a couple years ago and she came over to the house to show me and I drove it and first thing I did was try out the blinker and exclaimed, I love the blinker! She laughed and said, I knew you would. That's how much I like them.

11. I absolutely cannot go to bed without flossing and brushing. My bedtime regime talks all of 40-45 minutes.
1. If you could raid any celebrity's closet, who would it be and why?
Probably Jessica Alba. She just looks put together, even in casual clothes. It's not too over the top or too dressy. I dig.

2. If you were a shoe, what would you look like?
A flip-flop. Easy, quick, but I would definitely have jewels on me.
3. What is your biggest pet peeve?
People scraping their teeth on their fork. Ryan apologized immediately everything he accidentely does it. I think he is afraid I will jump over the table and punch him in the face if he doesn't.

4. Favorite song of all-time?
Don't Stop Believin' by Journey. My wedding party walked out to it, in fact. But to get my dance on 2 Step Remix hands down.
5. Are you a dog person or a cat person? And why? (If you don't like animals, we can't be friends.)
I say animal. I have a cat, I have a dog, and I've successfully rescued a bird, and attempted to save a chicken in the last month.
6. You're queen for a day. How do you spend your royal 24 hours?
First I would request lots and lots of Red Bull because I am totally making the most of those 24 hours. I would start by trying on fancy clothes, with gloves, drinking tea, going on a hunting trip with my fancy dogs and horses, ride in a chariot, and other queen like things I suppose.
7. What's the most delicious thing you've ever eaten? I can't really say...nothing has truly left that big of an impression on me.

8. What scares you the most? (This can be deep and complex or shallow...whateva you feel like!)
Getting lost. I am absolutely petrified. My parent's and brother use to joke on road trips that we were lost and I would bust out crying. I missed an exit going to Ft. Smith once and had a panic attack because I had taken another exit.
9. Which celebrity do you wish would drift off into obscurity?
Probably Kim K. I can't stand the woman, but also can't quit watching the horrible tv shows she is on.

10. You're 16 years old again. What advice would you give your younger self?
To find better boyfriends. Ha!
11. What's your Starbucks order?
Hot Chocolate
And done. Hope you all have a great weekend!!!

Weekend Recap

It's time for a weekend recap halfway through the new week.

We got Wyatt his first balloon on Friday night. He ended up having so much fun with it!

He would get sooo mad whenever the balloon flew back up.

While we were getting ready to go to the Razorback game Saturday morning I caught Wyatt in the bathroom eating none other than my tampons.
I truly think that my little guy looks so much like me here.
That, and he is going to hate me when he sees this during his teenage years...but isn't that what being a parent is all about?

We got to the basketball game and we had so much fun and we won!

Wyatt did so well all day. He was never fussy or grumpy, he was just happy and took it all in.

It was such a good weekend and I'm happy that we are just a couple days away from another!

44 weeks and Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine’s Day!!

Today, on this special day sprinkled with extra love, our sweet little boy turned another week older. 44 weeks old! Let’s do the math: 52-44=8. So only 8 more weeks until he turns the big 1!!
This morning, we all exchanged Valentine’s cards and Daddy got mommy some Miniature Reese’s cups. We hardly do gift exchanges for this holiday. He decided he is getting something for his gun and I’m going on a shopping trip later this week. We are also doing our “date” this weekend. We are super romantic can’t you tell? We did get the baby some books for his Valentine’s gift though. Can never have too many of those. I also ordered these yummy little suckers too.
Wyatt gave all his grandparents their Valentine’s cards too. He is such a sweet, sweet little boy. He must get that from him momma. He got some money for his savings account and Elmo from his grandparents in return. He isn’t spoiled in the least.

In honor of V-Day, I decided to do this little quiz about me and my Valentine:
How long have you and your significant other been together? Total? 3 years and 3 months.

How did you meet? (What’s your love story?) Well, we met randomly one night in the spring of 2008 when I was piling into the car with my girlfriends leaving a bar. It was a quick, hello, my name is Sarah, my name is Ryan, nice to meet you, see you later. He later added me on Facebook (strange that I even remember that) and I did what any normal person does and creeped on him. He was in a relationship so I didn’t even think any further than that. Fast forward to November 2008 and I was out for my birthday (same bar) with some friends. I got asked to come over and sit with some other friends, so they could get me a birthday drink, and got asked for a birthday kiss. Ryan quickly swooped in, requested I come sit next to him, I did, we chit-chatted, sang karaoke, I drove him home, and the rest is history.
If married, how long have you been married? 2 years next month
If you are married, where did you get married? Big or small wedding? We got married in Havana at the Church of Christ and had a medium sized wedding of about 100-150 people
Do you have any nicknames that you call one another? We both call each other Bunney. Not sure where it developed, but we both call each other this about 20 times a day. People who are with us probably get tired of hearing it.
Name 3 things you love most about your honey. #1 His sense of humor. #2 His loyalty to me and Wyatt. #3 His body. Ha, okay that was funny, no? See #1 because I know he laughed about that one. #3 His big heart.
Tell us how he proposed. One night, while watching tv, sorting through old jewelry I told Ryan that when he decided to get my engagement ring that I would need a size 6.5. (For the record, we had already went and looked at rings so it’s not like I was dropping hints.) I went back to the bedroom and was putting up some clothes when Ryan came back there, asked me if he thought this would fit, dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him. I, of course, said yes.

Is he a flower and teddy bear kind of guy, or strawberries, champagne and rose petals? Um, well he would be a flower person if I like the idea of wasting money on things that die, a teddy bear person if he knew I wouldn’t mind dust collectors, strawberries if they were in season, champagne if I preferred it over a beer, and rose petals if I was okay with the most clichéd flower out there. He is none of the above kind of guy. The kind of guy that knows that I like simple stuff and absolutely no romantic stuff.
Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or a pop a movie in and relax on the couch? Definitely a movie and couch type of girl.
Tell us one thing you’d like to do with your significant other one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere? I would probably be really cheesy, rent a RV, and go on a really long road cross country trip. We would wear our sunglasses, visors, fanny packs, tall socks, and khaki shorts.
Tell us what you plan on doing this Valentine’s Day. We are ordering pizza and eating sugar cookies, getting lovin’s from our baby, and then cuddling up to watch Teen Mom. Are you picking up on the romance that is our relationship?
Are you asking for anything for Valentine’s Day? Just some lovin’s. And for him to give the baby a bath tonight
Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love. You have to have fun and keep laughing. My favorite, is telling Ryan to French kiss me randomly. It is sure to get a laugh out of both of us. Or this one…Touch It. Inside jokes are the best thing…keeping each laughing and just being silly keeps you younger and more in love. I’m convinced of it at least.
Show us a picture of what love means to you.
    But for real:
Because he loves me, he decided to join in on my blog:
How long have you and your significant other been together? 3yrs
How did you meet? (What’s your love story?) At Galla Creek, my buddy was hitting on her trying to get a birthday kiss and Sarah told him it wasn't his bday (it was hers). I'm the best birthday present she ever had

If married, how long have you been married? 2 yrs in March

Name 3 things you love most about your honey. How great of a Mom she is, her dorkiness and sense of humor!

Tell us how you proposed. At our house nothing romantic

Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love. Do things together that you both enjoy

What was your first impression of your wife? A good one obviously.
What is your idea of a truly romantic evening? We don't do romantic evenings
Tell us one thing you’d like to do with your significant other one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere? Go snow skiing

10 months old

Someone isn't happy that he is getting older.
And you thought it was me, didn't you?

Okay, to be fair Wyatt doesn't mind getting older. In fact, I think he loves getting older and feeling like such a big boy. What he doesn't like is the fact that mommy made him sit down in his crib so I could get a picture.

He cheered up a bit though...
It is so hard to believe you 10 months old!!

The highlights for the month:

-You take2  bottles a day- morning and night. You take two straw cups with milk during the day and about 3 cups of water as well. You LOVE water so much. I like thinking you get that from mommy.

-You are eating more table food, but still some of the baby food. I cook you veggies just about every night. Fresh fruits aren't so fresh since they are out of season, but I still feed you the good ones. I will be so happy when summer is here and we can fill your tummy with lots of fresh fruit. You have it in your head that once you sit in your high chair you are supposed to eat. This is always fun when we take you to a restaurant. Nonetheless you are a very good baby out at lunches and dinners.

-You are still sleeping 11-12 hours a night and taking 2 naps a day.

-You are wearing 12 month and 18 month clothes and a size 5W shoe still as well as 18-36 month socks. You are still in a size 4 in your diaper.

-You are finally talking...Ba, Da, Ga, and every now and then I think I hear a Ma.

-You love to push your "grocery" cart (push-walker), laundry baskets, tables, anything that will move really.

-You are cruising along the furniture, tables, and between chairs and tables.

-You stand unassisted and sit down very slowly.

-Bath time is your absolute favorite time of the day I would have to say.

-You give high fives, give sugar (my favorite), and wave bye-bye but only when you really feel like it.

-You have two bottom teeth and the top ones are trying to come in too.

-You still only take a paci at bedtime. Also during sleep time you have found a new love in Scout that Misty bought you. He plays you bedtime music and you just cuddle up to him.
-You got your first real boo-boo this month.
Your Doug & Melissa puzzle fell on your toe, bruising it all up. The bottom of your toe looked like we pressed it in ink to get your print. It was very sad, but you didn't seem like it bothered you too much after the fact. Oh, you also got your feet stuck which is why I even took the 2 above pictures.

-Your favorite toy would have to be your green frog humidifier. You love putting it back together once you take it apart. This will easily keep you entertained for 20 minutes at a time.

-You still could care less about the tv.

-You are starting to "jump" when we tell you. You slam your head back in your high chair when we tell you "ouch" and you continue to be extremely ticklish on your back.

-You LOVE the bathroom, the toilet, the tub. You could stay in the bathroom all day if we let you. It kind of sort of grosses me out too, but it is what it is.

That's all I can really think of right now. I had a whole list on my phone, but daddy broke it over the weekend. (He still denies it.) Hopefully I didn't leave anything big out!
