The Nitty Gritty

No, not Dirt Band and Fishin' in the Dark even though I'd like to be...

I'm all about honesty, especially when it comes to the ole blog. I want to remember these first few weeks of what having two babies is like, no matter how hard they have been...

This week has been the real deal when it comes to how tough having two under two really is. At times, I have it completely together. Wyatt is in a good mood and Claire is staying awake longer and eating/sleeping well. Laundry is getting done and my teeth are getting brushed. At other times, I feel like my world has been turned upside down.

It's tough. Plain and simple.

And since we are being honest, there are days when I want to run away. Don't get all judgey on me either. Unless you've done the two under two yourself, in that case judge away friends. Judge away. But Sarah, you chose this you're thinking. Yes, I did. But, like with your first born, no one can truly express how it's going to be until you are personally experiencing it. Now back to running like Forrest. This doesn't happen on Saturday or Sunday because I have an extra set of hands. But the days I am alone I cry more than a teenage girl who has been broken up with for the first time. Ugly cries. Okay, so it's not ugly cries, but they do make me feel ugly. They are the "movie" cries. Yes, that's more accurate. And it seems to only be when I have two crying babies next to me. One is hungry and one just wants me to do something with him. That's the hard part... Not getting to do something with Wyatt. I hate telling him just a minute baby or can you wait just a second? I want to be able to drop everything and help him put in a cd when he can't quite get it to snap in there. I want to be able to let him do his laundry as soon as the dryer starts beeping at us, but a lot of the the time I cannot and crying ensues. Oh the crying. His fits didn't bother me before Claire, but now? My word they infuriate me and crush me at the same time. I tell him I'm sorry a lot.  He clearly doesn't understand though, but I desperatly wish that he did. I want him to know I'm sorry I'm busy. Sorry I have to put his needs on a back burner temporarily. Tough stuff I'm telling you! There are times I want to immediately pick up my sweet little newborn when she's crying ready for a bottle, but I also want to enjoy the time that I get to rock Wyatt to sleep for his nap since it only happens once a day. (He prefers his daddy at night.) She has cried more than Wyatt ever did as a newborn due to me fixing Wyatt lunch or changing his diaper. I know she will never know a difference, but it still hurts my heart.

Spreading my love between two kids is easy. Spreading my time between two is a little more challenging.

I want to soak up every minute of Claire's newborn stage and enjoy the last two months of Wyatt being a 1 year old, but at times I don't know how.

I think I have absolutely terrified Ryan a few times when he has come home and all three of us were crying. He has even asked me if I needed to go see my doctor. He's not the best at "talking" about emotions and what have you, but he does know what makes me happy. Presents! He brought me these home yesterday:

and asked if I liked them if I liked them. Of course I did, but I said yah, but where am I supposed to wear them. Ha, I'm such a turd. He loves me still though I guess. He probably thinks I have PPD. I think I have the baby blues. I didn't have them with Wyatt. With Wyatt I was simply overwhelmed and cried when he was leaving to go back to work. How dare he leave me alone with a newborn! This time though I think I crave adult interaction even more. Someone to just sit with me. Someone to entertain my other child. I know the days will get easier, but my word right now I'd love to go back to work. Yep, I said it. Don't get me wrong I love my babies and being home with them, but right now I feel run ragged even though I'm getting way more sleep that I did in those first few weeks with Wyatt.

I know a day will come when the clouds will part, birds will sing, and life will be easy again.

I'm ready for that. I truly am. But I'm also not ready to wish away some of the best days of my life. The days where I do have two in diapers and I get to capture sweet moments like this...

Being a mom to one was easy, but not near as fulfilling as being a mom to two. (For me.)

Working hard or hardly working?

Today, Ryan returned from an overnight stay in Memphis. We missed him, but since he was "working" we couldn't rightly complain.

His "work" consisted of this:

He got to Memphis Motor Speedway to drive cars around the track this morning. I'm sure he was just hating life having to be away from family, driving fast cars, and getting to hang with 3 others from work. Wouldn't you? He had a blast and came back safe and sound.

Wyatt and I spent the night with Mimi and Pawpaw. I took him to school this morning and then napped all day. I'd say it was a good day for me too!

Someone's still got it

Who you are wondering?

My husband...see, I keep him around still for those rare moments like this...

This lovely gift certificate for a mani and pedi was in my car with it a note on the envelope saying "Thanks for working so hard and making the house look great!!"
Aww.

But now, after everything I refuse to do he says, "But Bunney, I got you a mani/pedi."

Ulterior motive? I think yes.

44 weeks and Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine’s Day!!

Today, on this special day sprinkled with extra love, our sweet little boy turned another week older. 44 weeks old! Let’s do the math: 52-44=8. So only 8 more weeks until he turns the big 1!!
This morning, we all exchanged Valentine’s cards and Daddy got mommy some Miniature Reese’s cups. We hardly do gift exchanges for this holiday. He decided he is getting something for his gun and I’m going on a shopping trip later this week. We are also doing our “date” this weekend. We are super romantic can’t you tell? We did get the baby some books for his Valentine’s gift though. Can never have too many of those. I also ordered these yummy little suckers too.
Wyatt gave all his grandparents their Valentine’s cards too. He is such a sweet, sweet little boy. He must get that from him momma. He got some money for his savings account and Elmo from his grandparents in return. He isn’t spoiled in the least.

In honor of V-Day, I decided to do this little quiz about me and my Valentine:
How long have you and your significant other been together? Total? 3 years and 3 months.

How did you meet? (What’s your love story?) Well, we met randomly one night in the spring of 2008 when I was piling into the car with my girlfriends leaving a bar. It was a quick, hello, my name is Sarah, my name is Ryan, nice to meet you, see you later. He later added me on Facebook (strange that I even remember that) and I did what any normal person does and creeped on him. He was in a relationship so I didn’t even think any further than that. Fast forward to November 2008 and I was out for my birthday (same bar) with some friends. I got asked to come over and sit with some other friends, so they could get me a birthday drink, and got asked for a birthday kiss. Ryan quickly swooped in, requested I come sit next to him, I did, we chit-chatted, sang karaoke, I drove him home, and the rest is history.
If married, how long have you been married? 2 years next month
If you are married, where did you get married? Big or small wedding? We got married in Havana at the Church of Christ and had a medium sized wedding of about 100-150 people
Do you have any nicknames that you call one another? We both call each other Bunney. Not sure where it developed, but we both call each other this about 20 times a day. People who are with us probably get tired of hearing it.
Name 3 things you love most about your honey. #1 His sense of humor. #2 His loyalty to me and Wyatt. #3 His body. Ha, okay that was funny, no? See #1 because I know he laughed about that one. #3 His big heart.
Tell us how he proposed. One night, while watching tv, sorting through old jewelry I told Ryan that when he decided to get my engagement ring that I would need a size 6.5. (For the record, we had already went and looked at rings so it’s not like I was dropping hints.) I went back to the bedroom and was putting up some clothes when Ryan came back there, asked me if he thought this would fit, dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him. I, of course, said yes.

Is he a flower and teddy bear kind of guy, or strawberries, champagne and rose petals? Um, well he would be a flower person if I like the idea of wasting money on things that die, a teddy bear person if he knew I wouldn’t mind dust collectors, strawberries if they were in season, champagne if I preferred it over a beer, and rose petals if I was okay with the most clichéd flower out there. He is none of the above kind of guy. The kind of guy that knows that I like simple stuff and absolutely no romantic stuff.
Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or a pop a movie in and relax on the couch? Definitely a movie and couch type of girl.
Tell us one thing you’d like to do with your significant other one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere? I would probably be really cheesy, rent a RV, and go on a really long road cross country trip. We would wear our sunglasses, visors, fanny packs, tall socks, and khaki shorts.
Tell us what you plan on doing this Valentine’s Day. We are ordering pizza and eating sugar cookies, getting lovin’s from our baby, and then cuddling up to watch Teen Mom. Are you picking up on the romance that is our relationship?
Are you asking for anything for Valentine’s Day? Just some lovin’s. And for him to give the baby a bath tonight
Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love. You have to have fun and keep laughing. My favorite, is telling Ryan to French kiss me randomly. It is sure to get a laugh out of both of us. Or this one…Touch It. Inside jokes are the best thing…keeping each laughing and just being silly keeps you younger and more in love. I’m convinced of it at least.
Show us a picture of what love means to you.
    But for real:
Because he loves me, he decided to join in on my blog:
How long have you and your significant other been together? 3yrs
How did you meet? (What’s your love story?) At Galla Creek, my buddy was hitting on her trying to get a birthday kiss and Sarah told him it wasn't his bday (it was hers). I'm the best birthday present she ever had

If married, how long have you been married? 2 yrs in March

Name 3 things you love most about your honey. How great of a Mom she is, her dorkiness and sense of humor!

Tell us how you proposed. At our house nothing romantic

Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love. Do things together that you both enjoy

What was your first impression of your wife? A good one obviously.
What is your idea of a truly romantic evening? We don't do romantic evenings
Tell us one thing you’d like to do with your significant other one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere? Go snow skiing

End of another duck season

I went duck hunting this morning with the hubs.

Are you jealous? Because you most certainly should be.

When the alarm went off at 4:00am and Ryan jumped out of bed with entirely too much gusto I kind of started to regret my decision of going hunting on the last weekend of duck season.

He told me he wanted to be on the road by 4:20. It took a little bit of coaxing and after a few minutes I was up out of bed asking a hundred questions...Can I just stay in my warm bed? Why to you want me to put on cold clothes? Do I have pants? Where are my wool socks? Where is a belt? Do you have my boots? What about my waders? Do I have time to potty? So on and so forth.

We finally got out the door (and on time) and headed to get our duck slayin' on. But not before I took a quick picture of my fabulous get-up.
No hunter is complete without their Coach purse in tow.

For added protection (and to feel a bit girly) I threw these on for good measure.

Ryan took me to where we hunted last season when I was pregnant. It was a lot easier and much more comfortable this season.
This was my few from my blind.
Snazzy, eh?

Like my hat I won from the DU banquet. One other piece of clothing that makes me feel a little bit more girly...
This picture was actually a blooper, but I thought I'd include it.
Here is me and my favorite person in the world.

I know you are sitting on the edge of your seat wondering whether or not we killed any ducks. Well the answer is yes. One!

This is the first picture I took.

Then, I had to take a picture of me looking all professional and like a real hunter.
Did it work? I thought so too.

Here is Ryan with his duck.

Once we got home from our hunting excursion, I immediately hit the sheets and was out in maybe 2 minutes. I took a two hour nap and sometime during that nap Ryan went hunting with the guys.

They ended up only killing 4 geese, but enjoyed themselves nonetheless.

Tomorrow is the last day that Ryan is hunting this duck season. I'm pretty sure he learned it's a lot harder on him during duck season now days considering we have the baby and he can't just come home and take naps at his convenience like he use to. He did a great job sucking it up though (and learning to go to bed earlier). We're looking forward to next year and opening day falling on my birthday weekend. Woo. Hoo.

I confess...

I must confess…

…I’ve been missing my Nikon something terrible. Every time I want to take a real cute picture of Wyatt I want to slap myself in the face. Obviously I am not over this. Tomorrow Nikon will be receiving my camera and a few days after that I expect a horrifying email about how much it is going to cost. Be thinking of me.
…Every time I end up taking a picture of Wyatt I am deeply disturbed at how crappy it actually is. However, I am thankful I can at least still take pictures of the little guy, blurry or not.
…I am halfway through the last book of the Hunger Games series. I plan to finish by Wednesday. I feel like I don’t even know who my husband is.
…my kid wears me out. He is into everything! Thankfully I have Ryan’s help 100% so whenever I need a breather he is there to take over. If you only knew how thankful I am.
…I need to publicly apologize to Ryan. I forget why exactly, but he told me that he would like an apology. On my blog. Therefore, publicly. Bunney, I am sorry.
…That apology will get me nowhere and I will soon have to apologize again.
…That I could waste an entire day reading and not feel the least built guilty.
…I spent entirely too much money on sugar cookies for a game that I hardly even watched. I use to love football, but since having Wyatt, while I still love football I can’t find the time to really sit down and watch it. Oh, that’s right…I have a baby that needs playing with while said football game in on in the background. Or I let Mimi play to her heart’s content during the game while I read and the rest of the family watches.

…I am completely looking forward to our weeklong family vacation this summer.
…I can keep myself up all night planning Wyatt’s first birthday party.
…I dream about being Katniss. I’m completely pathetic, right? It’s not that I am that obsessed, but rather that is the last thing I read each night before bed.
…I’m sad I didn’t get any pictures of a shower from yesterday. Boo. Who am I without my camera?! Oh, a girl with no pictures. Duh.

And, here are my less than fabulous pictures.
Starting to feed himself:
Enjoying some sun!
Before going to hang out with a bunch a girls at a baby shower. Still looking cute though.

Moment of Silence

This happened today...
Yes, it requires a moment of silence.

Poor, poor Nikon.
Poor, poor Sarah.
Poor, poor checking account.

Luckily, I have a great husband who told me he was surprised it took this long.

Did I say lucky? I meant poor poor Sarah.

My Nikon D3100 is dead. Dead I tell you.

Okay, so maybe not dead, but the lens is totally jacked up. Dunzo. Like broke in half. I pretty much cussed myself up and down twice when this fell out of a bag I had picked up. Serioulsy. I suck at life.

Ugh.........

How can this be?! This is what happens when you spend an obscene amount of money on a camera  when you are known to go through about 3 point and shoots a year. True story.

I just remembered why I am lucky to have Ryan as a husband...

He gave me the green light to go ahead and just order a new lens...a better one.

Yessss!

Poor, poor checking account...

Looking back to 2008

Because it's fun for me to look back, here is me and the hubs on our first Christmas.

Look how young and fresh we look.
Okay, okay, so that may be the couple of drinks we had already consumed at that point...

But, here we are three years later.
Ahh, how things have changed. I love to look at where we started and where we are now and to imagine where we will be 3 more years from now.

Date night

Last night was date night. Say what?!

Ryan and I had a date night with the Townsends. We went to dinner and then did what all other women, er tweens, were doing and went to see Breaking Dawn. Haley and I have watched every single Twilight movie together (with the last now 3 being with our husbands too). We met up with my friends Erin and Misty as well and settled in for a couple hours of drooling over so vampires. How old am I again?

The movie was good…the book, like usual, was better. I’m not going to lie… the part where she delivers the baby was a bit over the top. I could have definitely gone without seeing Edward smash her breast bone 786 times and then her blood changing or whatever as well as her dead limp body. It was a bit much, but whatev.

This isn’t what my post is about. Oh no. It’s about the CUTE 6 or so year old boy that was sitting directly behind us.

The BEST part of my evening was when they are having “relations” and the bed splits. No, sickos, not because I’m a pervert like that, but because while everyone in the theatre ooh and ahh’ed and giggled from awkwardness little Henry (as I’ve dubbed him) very loudly exclaims, “WHAT HAPPENED?”

His pure innocence had be crying from laughing so hard.

Other moments that had be shaking so hard from laughter was when it was dead silent in the theatre and little Henry let out a belch a grown man couldn’t compete with…Or when they kept making out and he asked, “Why do they keep doing that?” Or when she was drinking the blood and he asked, “What is that?”

He wanted to know everything. He wanted to comment on so much. His dad was so patient with him and I am so happy that we sat in front of them…it made the movie that much better.

Wyatt is soon going to be at that age where he speaks his mind and is curious about the world around him. He is going to ask questions. He is going to be annoying. He is going to be redundant. Where once I would have thought of little Henry as that annoying kid who ruins my tween movie, I now see him as absolute preciousness who made a movie more funny than I had expected. I know that our day is coming when Wyatt will be extremely annoying to some people, heck probably even to me. However, I hope to always be patient, amused, and willing to laugh at all his ridiculousness. Did I ever tell you that children are the best? If not, they are. My baby, the soon-to-be Henry, brings a love and joy to me that I didn’t know was possible.

Happy birthday, Bunney!

Today, Ryan turned the big 3-0!!
Last night he got his duck decoys and believe me when I tell you that he was on cloud 9!
Can't you just see how proud he is?
These are apparently might fine duck decoys....you know, all pretty with felt heads...
He was like a little girl texting "Donnie" about his sheer excitement.

This morning, I had Ryan's present on the table. I made this little bouquet for him along with his cards from me and Wyatt and also some new shirts I got him. He loved them!
We planned to spend the entire day together (yay!). We headed to Stuttgart so we could go to Mack's Prairie Wings to buy him so new waders. But first we stopped in Conway for what else? Smoothie King!
Wyatt did soooo good today! He is such an easy, easy baby and we love being able to take him with us. We had fun at MPW and also had a really yummy lunch at the Cajun Bistro.
I also ordered these and mom brought them over while we were gone so it was another surprise for Ryan. They were from The Cake Place and there were soo good. We will probably be ordering a lot more from there!
Here is Bunney with his new waders. He is so proud, but you cannot tell because he is trying to be seductive for me.
We also got a decoy bag for those fabulous decoys. How appropriate correct?

At least I got to do some shopping in Little Rock on the way home, so we had a really fun day.

Ryan, you are such a wonderful, wonderful daddy to Wyatt and a great husband to me. I hope you had a wonderful day today. I'm pretty positive that you did!! I love you so much and I hope that this is your best year yet. (How can it not be though? Toot makes life 1 million times better!)
